How to cap off a septic?
Here’s the problem. I had my septic cleaned recently and now the pipe/lid is missing. I need to replace it. The septic’s opening is 2 foot below the ground. I used to have a 2 foot long X 1 foot wide black corrugated pipe that had cement in the top. This pipe sat on top of the septic opening. Now that it’s missing, I need some way to cap off my septic tank. With millions of septics out there, nobody seems to have any idea how to cap the septic so it’s accessible when it needs cleaned out. I can’t find the large pipe anywhere. Help! Please!
The hole in the septic tank is 4 inches and is square.
You may be able to find a 12″ PVC pipe at a plumbing supply house. If I’m reading your description right, it says that the hole in the tank is 1 foot wide. Take a section of the 12″ and cut it long enough to protrude through the yard so that it is easily accesible when you need to pump it out. Place it over the hole and maybe get some concrete patch or paste and mix it thick. Apply the paste around the base of the pipe and to the top of the tank. You can probably get a 12″ PVC female adapter and plug and put on the top of this pipe where it comes through the ground and you can just unscrew the plug when needed. If you can find these parts then be ready to spend some money because they wont be that cheap. This is the best way I can think of to do this. Good luck
