What was the club raccoons cherry?
I just found a glass plate, while weeding the garden. I found a picture of a plate similar to this site: http://www.bathantiquesonline.com/antique–collectible/black-memorabilia/antique-cherry-coons-club-collectible-22977.html I can not find the information age (around 1920). A 'Coon Club Cherry "and" The People "printed on the side and" Eb "Flo" the image in the center. Does anyone know and why does it occur?
1. I have no proof, but I think that no sense of humor Coons Club ("Cherry") was probably a membership club for young readers of the comics section of the people (the British newspaper Sunday) and the plate was sent to children, receive the check or money required (parent / guardian). The club is clearly based on the famous comic Eb and Flo, who (as we shall see when you read my response) is obviously the model of sharecroppers in the southern United States. The picture of sharecroppers, shown here is 1941 (and should be compared with the linked picture in April. Eb and Flo "Is a cartoon produced by the British artist Wilfred Haughton. Haughton is best known for being the Disney comic illustrator in Britain during the years 1930. There is little information about it on the Internet. 3. Haughton was inspired by the music hall.
